Born in Denver, Colorado, USA, Richard A. Nicholas began his art training at an early age when his mother gave him paper and crayons. He has explored oil, tempera, acrylics, encaustic, linocut printmaking and pen and ink. He was introduced to the challenges of intaglio printing at the University of Wyoming but was beguiled by language, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He studied the art of Medicine at the University of Colorado where he got his doctorate. He has spent17 years traveling the world, (living in Bangladesh, Egypt, Turkey, Thailand and Singapore) practicing medicine and observing human behavior. He has exhibited in Thailand, Singapore and Santa Fe.
